The word MAMA expresses women's experience from a common heritage of diverse potential.

MAMA East African Women's Group is a voluntary organisation providing a wide range of education programmes and arts activities.

It all began with a group of women who met regularly at each other's homes exploring issues to Somali and East African women living in the UK and East Africa.

From these gatherings they embarked on a journey in search for opportunities for themselves and other women in similar circumstances.

Their first venture was to influence mainstream cultures to include Somali arts.
